Our history 
Beginning with a fleet of only 5 aircraft in 1956, Vietnam Airlines has been through some dramatic changes to become what it is today. Originally known as Vietnam Civil Aviation, we began flying as an independent airline soon after nationalizing Gia Lam Airport. In the ensuing more than fifty one years, we've been through many changes. And with every change, we've developed, expanded and improved our service to become an airline of international standard.
Airline partners 
Vietnam Airlines’ cooperations with regional and worldwide airlines has been highly valued and constantly developed in the efforts to expand our network and meet the demand of international and domestic travel.

Up to date, Vietnam Airlines has signed 89 Interline Agreements with international airlines and 10 Codeshare Agreements with major carriers including Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines,China Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Japan Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Lao Airlines và American Airlines.
